Damon Braces

AN EFFICIENT WAY TO STRAIGHTEN TEETH (What You Need To Know About Damon Braces In Malaysia)

Damon Braces

Damon braces are a novel generation of fixed braces with special brackets placed onto each of your teeth. These brackets can securely hold a wire on their own, eliminating the need for traditional elastic ties.

Damon braces is one of the few options that you can consider for teeth straightening in Malaysia.

What Are Damon Braces?

What Are Damon Braces?

The braces will gently move your teeth into their correct 3D positions, giving you:

  • A broader and fuller smile, with reduced dark triangles at the corners of your mouth;
  • A balanced and enhanced facial profile for a youthful look;
  • Smoother cheek contours.

Benefits of Damon Braces

Damon braces have a few advantages over traditional braces which include:

Shorter Treatment Time

Traditional braces use elastic ties, which create friction. Damon braces employs a slide mechanism which allows the wires to move freely, eliminating friction. This shortens treatment time by 4 to 6 months.

Enhanced Comfort

Traditional elastic ties rub against your gums and soft tissues, increasing the possibility of mouth ulcers forming. With the absence of elastic ties with damon braces, you will feel comfortable.

Allows for Enhanced Oral Care

With the absence of traditional elastic ties, it is less likely that food particles get trapped, and so for plaque and bacteria to build up. It allows for brushing and flossing to be carried out, and therefore for the maintenance of good oral hygiene.

Do I Need Damon Braces?

Do I Need Damon Braces?

You may need damon braces in Malaysia if:
  • You want to enhance your smile;
  • Your teeth are rotated, crowded, or uneven;
  • You have gaps in between your teeth;
  • You suffer from a dysfunctional bite.

What Does the Procedure Involve?

Stage 1: Pre-Treatment Consultation

  • Your dentist will advise you on whether any pre-treatment preparations are required to receive Damon braces at your initial treatment consultation. These can include the adjustment or extraction of teeth to create the space needed to move your remaining teeth into their perfect positions.
  • Your dentist will also discuss the different types of Damon brackets you can opt to have throughout your treatment.

Stage 3: Post-Treatment Care

After your Damon braces treatment is complete, all your brackets and wires will be removed, and thorough cleaning of your teeth and gums will be carried out.

You and those around you are likely to see a noticeable positive change to your smile and entire face.

To sustain the results, you will be provided retainers and instructions for their wear.

Stage 2: Fixing Procedure of Damon Braces

Once your dentist has made all the preparations (if required), your Damon braces will be fixed onto all your teeth that require orthodontic straightening.

After their initial placement, you may take 1 to 2 weeks to fully adjust to your novel braces.

  • Your teeth are likely to feel bulkier, while your lips, cheeks, and tongue may be sensitive as they adapt to your novel appliance. Your dentist will provide you special, safe-to-swallow clear wax that you can apply to your brackets to help relieve any irritation.

  • It is normal to feel some tenderness to your teeth, at the initial stage and after each adjustment, especially when biting or chewing, but this should solely last for a few days. Feel free to switch over to a soft diet as and when you need.

  • Your dentist or hygienist will provide you instructions on how to go about cleaning your teeth and gums with your novel appliance. You must continue to maintain good oral health habits and attend your regular dental check-ups during the entire course of your treatment. Before you know it, having braces will feel familiar as you await your novel smile.
